Aster DM Healthcare has sent a medical team, comprising doctors and nurses, to the UAE to help the country to fight Covid-19 pandemic. The 88-member medical team from hospitals under Aster DM Healthcare, including 19 from Aster Medcity, has left to Dubai on Saturday evening. They were flown in a special flight of the UAE government and following Covid-19 protocols, including social distancing.
Aster DM Healthcare has sent the medical team on the request of the Dubai Health Authority and as a support to the union government’s ‘Vande Bharat’ Mission. The Dubai Health Authority had made the request to send a medical team as they have been faced with shortage of medical professionals in hospitals treating Covid-19 patients. The UAE Embassy in New Delhi, Ministry of External Affairs and Indian Ambassador to UAE were also involved in sending the medical team. According to Aster DM Healthcare authorities, the medical team will work under the Dubai Health Authority. The authority has also made arrangements for their food, accommodation and transportation.
The medical team comprises medical professionals having experience in ICU units and expertise to treat Covid-19 patients. They will stay in the UAE for a minimum of three months. Aster DM Healthcare sent the team after receiving the necessary approvals from the Ministry of External Affairs. Apart from Aster Medcity, the team also has medical professionals from Aster MIMS Calicut, Aster MIMS Kottakkal, Aster MIMS Kannur and Aster CMI and Aster RV, Bengaluru. Cdr. Jelson Kavalakkat, CEO, Aster Medcity and management representatives saw off the medical team.
